  • Unless stated otherwise, the following Legal Notices and Terms of Use govern the way you use and browse the www.chanel.com website including all web pages and other websites accessible at this address, including those versions optimised for browsing on mobiles and tablets, as well as mobile apps published by CHANEL, directed at consumers in the following countries: France, Albania, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands,  Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland and Turkey (collectively the “Site”).

    The Legal Notices and Terms of Use applicable to any other country or region of the world may be different.

    The “Perfumes”, “Makeup” and “Skincare” and “Sunglasses” sections of the Website also offer the sale of products online (hereafter “CHANEL Online Boutique”), the terms of which are set out in the Chanel Terms of Sale, forming an overall contract with the Legal Notices and Terms of Use below and the Privacy section

  • Access to the Website and use of its content and functions are governed by the following Terms of Use. By accessing,  browsing and using the Website’s functions, you unconditionally accept the clauses set out below.

     

    1. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

    Chanel and/or its affiliates around the world own the domain name “www.chanel.com”. The Website is a creation of the mind protected by intellectual property laws. The Website as a whole and the products sold on it, as well as all the associated intellectual property (such as texts, site maps, programmes,  databases,  animations, photographs, illustrations,  sounds,  colour codes, diagrams, logos, brands and designs) are the exclusive property of Chanel and/or its affiliates around the world and/or have been regularly licensed to Chanel. Chanel and/or its affiliates around the world are solely authorised to use the associated intellectual property rights.
    The use of all or part of the Website, including by downloading, reproduction, transmission, presentation or distribution, for purposes other than for your personal and private use,  commercially or otherwise, is strictly prohibited. In the event of failure to comply with these provisions, the penalties provided by law will be applied. 
    When you use a “Share” function on the Website to share a CHANEL product, event or message, you acknowledge and accept that the content available for sharing must only be used for purely personal purposes, excluding any commercial use on websites or web pages and/or other commercial digital media.
    For any content that you submit when you use the Product Reviews service defined in Article 5 of the Terms of Use, you grant Chanel, free of charge and for a duration of thirty (30) years, the right to use, reproduce, copy, modify, delete all or part, adapt, publish, translate, create works derived from the content, as well as the right to license, sub-license, sell, distribute and/or integrate it in any form, using any medium or any technology throughout the world, without compensation being awarded to you.
    The creation of hyperlinks to the Website requires Chanel’s prior, written consent which can be revoked at any time.
    Not all websites with a hyperlink to the Website are under Chanel’s control and Chanel  therefore disclaims any liability (especially editorial) regarding access to such websites and their content.
    Chanel is free to change the content of the Website at any time and without notice.

     

    2. DISCLAIMER AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

    Chanel strives to ensure that the information available via the Website is accurate and up-to-date. However, Chanel gives no warranty that such information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. Chanel gives no warranty, express or implied, in respect of all or part of the Site.
    Subject to the specific provisions for online sales, Chanel cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect damages, irrespective of the cause, origin, nature and consequence, arising from browsing and use of the Website. In particular, Chanel declines any liability in the event of interruption or inaccessibility of the Website, the occurrence of bugs or any damage resulting from fraudulent acts by third parties (such as an intrusion) originating from the Website.
    When you use the Product Reviews service defined in Article 5 of the Terms of Use, you agree to indemnify and insure Chanel (including its executives, directors, agents, shareholders, affiliates, joint companies, employees, partners or third party service providers) against any claims, demands and/or damages (both direct and indirect) of any sort and of any nature, known or unknown, including reasonable legal fees, due to a violation of your declarations and guarantees defined in Articles 1 and 5 of the Terms of Use, or the violation by you of any law or the rights of a third party.
    Chanel implements measures to ensure the security of the data collected on the Website. Nevertheless, Chanel has no control over the risks associated with the functioning of the internet and draws your attention to the existence of potential risks regarding the confidentiality of data transiting through this network.

    When placing orders on the CHANEL Online Boutique, please check the information regarding prices and any delivery costs applicable in the Terms of Sale.

    The price of products not sold on the CHANEL Online Boutique are provided as a guide and have no contractual value. They correspond to the prices applied by Chanel in its stores and are subject to change and adjustment without notice.
    For jewellery presented on the Chanel Jewellery website, the prices shown are for a 52 or medium ring size and are therefore also subject to variation for a smaller or larger size.

     

    5. FRAGRANCE & BEAUTY PRODUCT REVIEWS

    This article regulates your use of the product reviews service offered by Chanel for the “Fragrance” “Makeup” and “Skincare” sections of the Website (hereinafter the “Product Reviews“).

    5.1 Purpose of the Product Reviews

    The Product Reviews allows the Website’s customers to leave their opinions, suggestions and recommendations solely on the Frangrance and Beauty products sold on the website (hereinafter the “Products“). These opinions, suggestions or recommendations shall be accompanied by a grade of 1 to 5 starts, 5 stars being the best score attributable to a Product (hereinafter the “Review(s)“).
    To be able to leave a Review on one of the Products, the customer must have previously bought the Product in question on the Website within the last year.
    If a customer bought the product using a guest account, she should create a customer account first in order to be able to leave her Review.
    A Review must contain a minimum of 10 characters.
    The content that you send as part of the Product Reviews is used by Chanel for the purpose of analysing the satisfaction of our customers.

    5.2 Contents of Product Reviews / Users’ responsibilities

    By sending the content, you guarantee:

    • that you are the sole author and/or owner of all the rights relating to the said content or that you hold a licence for the rights authorising you to send the said content to Chanel;
    • that you have voluntarily renounced all “moral rights” that you could have on the said content;
    • that all the content that you send is correct;
    • that you are at least 18 years old or you have obtained prior permission of a parent or legal representative to leave content, Chanel shall be able to ask any minor user to provide evidence of this permission and, where necessary, refuse to publish the Review of a minor user who is unable to provide evidence of this permission;
    • that the use by Chanel of the content that you provide does not violate the Terms of Use and will not harm any person or entity.
     

    Furthermore, you agree to send no content:

    • that you know to be false, incorrect or misleading;
    • that infringes any copyright, patent right, trademark, business secret, trade secret and/or any other intellectual property rights, property rights, publicity rights of any third party and/or any confidentiality agreements;
    • that violates any law or order, or indeed any decree or regulation (including, but not limited to, those which regulate consumer protection, unfair competition, discrimination or false advertising) and more generally, any regulation;
    • that can reasonably be considered to be defamatory, derogatory, inciting hate, biased, offensive or insulting, in particular with regards to race or religion, threatening in an illegal manner or representing unlawful harassment of any individual, person, agreement, partnership or business;
    • for which you have been paid of have received compensation by a third party not approved by Chanel;
    • that includes information referencing websites other than the Website, publicity, third party brands or content that is not be relevant to the products sold on the Website, physical addresses, email addresses, contact details or telephone numbers or any other information allowing the identification of a person;
    • that includes any comment on the medical or pharmaceutical performance of the Products;
    • that contains viruses, worms or other potentially harmful programmes or computer files.
     

    5.3 Publication of Reviews

    The contents of the Reviews must not contradict the Terms of Use and must not damage Chanel’s image or its trade policy.
    Chanel undertakes not to modify the customers’ Reviews before their publication, except for the spelling of the names of the Products if they were incorrect. Nevertheless, each Review is manually moderated by Chanel’s customer service before its publication in order to verify that if conforms with the publication criteria, particularly listed in Article 5 of the Terms of Use. The Reviews will be published irrespective of their rating, provided that they respect the publication criteria and the Terms of Use.
    You recognise that you, and not Chanel, are solely responsible for the content of your contribution. No part of the content that you send shall be subject to an obligation of confidentiality on the part of Chanel (including its executives, directors, agents, shareholders, affiliates, joint companies, employees, partners or third party service providers, as well as their respective directors, representatives and employees).
    Chanel undertakes not to pay any user in order to incite them to leave a possible Review.
    The Reviews shall be published between 48 and 72 hours after submission on average. The process may be longer if the Review has to be examined in detail by the dedicated Chanel team.
    The Reviews are uploaded on the Website in chronological order.
    Once a Review is published on the Website, users have the option, through a link, to say if they have found it useful or not.

    6. AMENDMENTS

    Chanel informs you that these Terms of Use can be amended at any time. Such amendments are posted online and are deemed to be accepted unconditionally when you access the Website after they are posted online.  Chanel  recommends you check this page regularly.

     

    7. SEVERABILITY

    If any clause of these Terms of Use is found to be invalid due to a change in legislation or regulations or a court decision, this cannot in any way affect the validity of and compliance with the other clauses of the Terms of Use.

     

    8. APPLICABLE LAW AND DISPUTES

    These Terms of Use are governed by French law without depriving you of the level of protection provided by the provisions of the mandatory laws of the country of your usual residence. Failing amicable agreement, the French courts in Paris have territorial jurisdiction to deal with any dispute relating to the Website, notwithstanding your option to bring the dispute before a competent foreign court of your choice

  • CHANEL highly cares about your privacy and data protection.

    We are committed to offering the highest standards of products and services. Thus, we value each of our existing or prospective client and aim at maintaining appropriate protection of your personal data (“Data”).

    The CHANEL Online Privacy Policy explains how CHANEL collects and processes your Data when you use our website, app or other digital platforms (“Platforms”), when you purchase CHANEL products via our Platforms, or when you apply for a job at CHANEL online as required by the data protection laws in the countries in which we do business, such as the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union. This Policy applies to those Platforms which provide for a link to it.

    Country-specific amendments referred to below may in some cases additionally apply to offline Data collection. If so, the Country-specific amendment will disclose that it applies to online and offline Data collection.

    CHANEL has implemented a robust data protection compliance program, which includes the adoption of the high-standard data protection principles of the applicable data protection laws at a global level and in particular the:

    a. conclusion of an Intra Group Data Transfer Agreement (“IGTA”), which are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. They should ensure the same level of protection by all CHANEL entities and allow transfers of Data within CHANEL’s organization globally;

    b. creation of a Data Protection Office and a network of local data protection contacts;

    c. adoption of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations;

    d. implementation of appropriate technical and organizational measures to implement the data protection principles.

  • The CHANEL Platforms and related data processing are operated / carried out by or on behalf of the respective CHANEL entity (“CHANEL” or “we”) as set out . Such CHANEL entity may further share information with its affiliates in accordance with the safeguards foreseen in this policy (see Section 5 below). Any online sales on the e-commerce section of the website are made by the respective CHANEL entity as set out in the applicable Terms of Sales.

  • The specific type and scope of Data we collect about you depend on your activity on, and interaction with, the Platforms (e.g., whether you only browse through our Platforms or purchase a product or subscribe to our marketing communication) as well as the country in which you use the Platforms. The following Data may be collected through our Platforms :


        a)  Information collected when you use the CHANEL Platforms for informative purposes only

    • Information relating to your website use (“Log Data”) :
     

    When you use our Platforms for informative purposes only (e.g., you do not register on, purchase via or otherwise submit your Data through the website), your internet browser automatically collects, and transfers to us, certain basic information relating to your website use. Such Log Data may include :

      • your browser type and version,
      • your operating system and interface,
      • used device,
      • language preference,
      • the website from which you are visiting us (referrer URL),
      • webpage(s) you are visiting on our Platforms,
      • date and time of your visit,
      • part of your internet protocol (IP) address,
      • your actions taken on the Platforms, and
      • the name of your access provider.
     
    • Information processed by external social media providers (“Social Media Data”):
     

    Our Platforms contain share buttons that enable you to share CHANEL content with your friends through third party media platforms and /or social networks (such as Facebook and Instagram, “External Platforms”). The mere use of our Platforms does generally not involve data processing activities (including data transfers) in relation to the External Platforms. However, when you use the share button, these External Platforms may collect and otherwise process personal data about you.

    • Information processed through cookies (“Cookie Data”) :
     

    We use cookies and similar technologies when operating our Platforms. Cookie-based processing of your Data is subject to Section 9 below.

     
    • Information on parties to fight counterfeiting (“Anti-Counterfeit Data”) :
     

    In order to fight against counterfeiting and infringement, CHANEL has set up automated processes to collect information on companies or individuals who commit or are likely to commit acts that violate our rights in the context of the Platforms. This information will be accessible to any company legally authorized to use the CHANEL trademarks that has been a victim of such violations, for the purpose of taking action or any necessary measures to protect their rights.  We collect the following Anti-Counterfeit Data :

      • identification information
      • postal address
      • information related to any electronic means used for counterfeit activities
      • judiciary information related to proceedings
     

    In addition, CHANEL periodically reviews social media sites and other online platforms to detect unauthorised sellers of CHANEL products. Some Data are collected from public sources (such as third parties websites).


    b) Information collected when you purchase a CHANEL product (“Purchase Data”)

    If you purchase a CHANEL product through our Platforms, we will collect Data through the purchase form to process the purchase order.
    If you purchase a CHANEL product through your account (see Section c) below), we additionally process your purchase history.


    c) Information collected when you create an account on the Platform (“Account Data”)

    If you create an account on the Platform to be able to order faster, track your order, create and keep your wishlist and / or receive exclusive news about CHANEL products (if requested), we will collect Account Data through the account creation form.


    d) Information collected when you subscribe to the CHANEL newsletter or other marketing communication (“Marketing Data”)

    If you subscribe to our newsletter or other marketing communication via the Platforms in order to receive information on CHANEL collections, products, campaigns, shows and other events, we will collect Marketing Data through the Newsletter subscription form. 


    e) Information collected when you otherwise interact with us via the Platforms (“Request Data”)

    • The Platforms enable you or facilitate to get in touch with us, including to exercise your rights under Section 8 (as applicable), or share your opinion on CHANEL products and services in many other ways than described above, e.g., via e-mail, telephone, letter or a data subject access request. The collection of Data depends on how you interact with us and what information you provide us with. If you contact us via the contact us form available on the Platforms, we collect the following Data :

      • area of interest,
      • topic/ purpose of the contact,
      • title / gender,
      • name (first name and surname),
      • email address,
      • further Data you share on a voluntary basis (e.g. postal address, phone number, your concern), and
      • the content of your query or responses to surveys and questionnaires provided to us.
     
    • If you contact us to exercise your data subject rights (as applicable), we usually collect the following Data, depending on how you address the data subject rights request :

      • type of relationship with CHANEL (e.g., customer, employee or other),
      • name (first name and surname),
      • type of request (e.g. rectification or deletion request),
      • contact details,
      • country of residence,
      • further request details necessary to process your request (e.g. identification details), and
      • the content of your request provided to us.
     
    • If you make a service request (e.g., repair order, booking or warranty claim), we may collect the following Data :

      • topic,
      • title / gender,
      • name (first name and surname),
      • contact details,
      • product purchased,
      • date of purchase, and
      • further details relevant to address your request.
     
    • The website CHANEL.com offers click-to-chat and click-to-call functionalities. 
     

    Click-to-chat enables you to start a live chat with, and enjoy real-time support by our customer service. You can contact our customer service via live chat either as a guest or as a registered customer. In the latter case, the customer service may have access to certain portions of your Account Data in order to process and answer your request, such as: 

      • your name,
      • contact details.
     

    Click-to-call allows you to request a callback through the Platforms. If you request a callback, we collect:

      • your phone number, and
      • your preferred time for the callback.

    f) Information collected when you apply for a job at CHANEL or its affiliates (“Applicant Data”)

    If you apply for a job at CHANEL or its affiliates via the Platforms, we collect the following Data relating to your application:

    • name (first name and surname),
    • nationality,
    • country and city of residence,
    • postal address,
    • email address,
    • phone number,
    • educational level,
    • school/university,
    • spoken languages,
    • work experience,
    • certificates,
    • further CV information,
    • your preferred entry date, and
    • further Data you may submit.
     


    g) Information collected about you from third party partners

    From time to time we may collect Data about you from third party partners (in order to enrich our data sets) or instruct such third party partners to provide their own Data about you to external platforms (“Third Party Data”) in order to provide you with tailored information about our products, services and events on external platforms or via such third parties.


    Important General Notice : When we collect personal data through forms, including but not limited to electronic forms, we will indicate the mandatory fields via asterisks. Failure to provide the data marked with an asterisk could prevent you from accessing our products and / or services. While submitting any Data, including multimedia content (photographs, videos etc.), please ensure it is accurate and do not transmit any sensitive Data such as health information, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, information on your sex life or sexual orientation, racial or ethnic origin, nor any content which is not expressly requested through a questionnaire or any other collection method (such as commercial information, advertising, personal creations, ideas, or concepts), unless this is required in exceptional cases (e.g. to report allergies).

    Our website does not specifically focus on minors. If we should nevertheless inadvertently collect such information, the minor's legal representative can exercise the minor’s rights on his/her behalf and on his/her name at any time (see below).

  • If you are an existing or prospective client of, or if you apply for a job at CHANEL or otherwise interact with CHANEL via the Platforms, we may use your Data for the following purposes (“Processing Purposes”) :

    • enable you to browse through our Platforms and to use your personal online account (“Platform-related Purposes),

    • enable you to obtain information on our products and services from our Customer Care Center, in our “Contact us” section for instance (“Request-related Purposes”),

    • enable you to purchase CHANEL products through our Platforms, in our CHANEL boutiques and other points of sale (“Purchase-related Purposes”),

    • enable you to access CHANEL services in our CHANEL boutiques and other points of sale, or on our Platforms – for instance, to book an appointment or to create a CHANEL product wish list (“Service-related Purposes”),

    • enable you to access our extensive after-sales care services on our CHANEL products (“After Sales-related Purposes”)

    • respect our legal obligations, including inter alia cosmetics regulations, the protection of our distribution networks, the fight against money laundering, credit card fraud, the fight against counterfeit and processing your data subject rights requests (“Regulatory-related Purposes”),

    • collect your opinion on our CHANEL products and services, in particular via surveys and questionnaires (“Product Improvement-related Purposes”),

    • establish statistics, financial and commercial studies (“Studies-related Purposes”),

    • keep you informed about our latest collections, products, campaigns, shows and other events by sending you our CHANEL communications (by electronic mail, by post or via your phone: calls, chat, SMS and MMS and third-party media platforms; “Marketing-related Purposes”),

    • improve our understanding of your interests and preferences so that we can deliver personalized offers and other services that would correspond better to your needs and wishes (“Preference-related Purposes”),

    • process your application, including checking open positions via internal and external experts in the case of job applicants as well as maintain an applicant pool in order to be able to match future positions with potential candidates (“Application-related Purposes”).

  • Each processing of your Data is legally based on your consent, the necessity to carry out a contract with you, a legal obligation and / or our overriding legitimate interest depending on the purpose of the processing. 

    Details of the legal basis justifying the data processing are set out .

  • Within the CHANEL Organization. To the extent permitted by law and taking into account the protection of your rights and freedoms in respect of the processing of your Data, your Data will only be accessible to a limited and defined number of recipients within the global CHANEL entities (“CHANEL Organization”) as further described below. We may transfer your Data to another legal entity for the purposes of a collaboration, joint venture, corporate reorganization, change of legal form or other similar event. In case of a merger or sale, your Data will be permanently transferred to the successor company. Anti-Counterfeit Data will be accessible to any company legally authorized to use the CHANEL trademarks that has been a victim of such violations, for the purpose of taking action or any necessary measures to protect their rights. You can find a list of the relevant CHANEL entities .

    If you are an existing or prospective client of CHANEL or otherwise interact with CHANEL via the Platforms (except by way of a job application), only the CHANEL employees within the CHANEL Organization that are working within the teams that need to have your information (for example, Customer Relationship Management, Commercial Management, Legal, Compliance and IT) will access your Data.

    Chanel may also send you communications relating to products or events related to the activities of other entities of the Chanel Organization such as, for example, our Maisons d'Art Barrie, Goossens, Maison Michel, Orlebar Brown or Maison Eres.

    Third Parties outside of the CHANEL Organization. We may in limited cases transfer your Data to governmental agencies and regulators (e.g. tax authorities), courts, and government authorities, all in accordance with applicable law and to external advisors (e.g., lawyers, accountants, auditors etc.), all acting as controllers. In this context CHANEL may also have to transfer your Data to third parties when it receives a request by an authority empowered by law to do so, pursuant to applicable laws and regulations. If you apply for a job through the Platforms, the CHANEL entity receiving your application (see Section 2) may forward your application to external recruitment firms as necessary.

    Service providers (within and outside CHANEL) : Your Data will generally not be disclosed to recipients outside the CHANEL Organization. In some cases, however, CHANEL makes use of external service providers acting on behalf of CHANEL on the basis of contractual arrangements which will include strict data protection obligations. We will in particular provide your Data to service providers or suppliers (this may include other CHANEL group companies) as part of our normal business operations to carry out certain IT-related tasks and who assist us in operating our Platforms, conducting our business, servicing you or protecting the security and integrity of our business (including IT maintenance, security and support service provider, hosting provider, payment provider, marketing and advertising partners, mailing or emailing services or customer care center).

  • Data disclosure as set out in Section 5 above may involve a transfer of your Data to countries that do not provide the same level of data protection. Applicable legal and regulatory requirements are taken into consideration before any cross border transfer of your Data.

    • Any Data transfers outside your country that do not provide an adequate level of data protection will be secured through appropriate contractual guarantees which will also be in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses;

    • Data transfers among CHANEL entities will ultimately be covered by the IGTA.

    • The transfer of Data may also be based on your prior consent. Please note that, if you are an European Union or UK citizen, such a transfer may include possible risks if the country where your data is transferred to has not been recognized by European Union or UK authorities as granting sufficient data protection level (absence of an adequacy decision) and appropriate safeguards.

    You may receive relevant portions of the aforementioned documents upon request as required by applicable law.

  • Your Data generally (other than Applicant Data) :

    Alongside the commitment to offering the highest standards of services and products, we consider that our products should entitle you to personalized client treatment and incomparable after-sales services that may last for a lifetime for some products. For this purpose, and to ensure such services, we may need to keep your personal data for as long as it is needed for the provision of such services. Your Purchase Data will be retained until your last use or purchase of our services or goods as required or permitted by applicable local law or where we have a legitimate and lawful purpose to do so and in any case.

CHANEL Boutique Privacy Policy

 
CHANEL (“CHANEL”, “we” or “us”) attaches great importance to protecting your privacy and personal data and we undertake to comply with regulations applicable to us (including, in particular and as applicable, the European General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679, “GDPR”, the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”, and other regimes).

We collect certain personal information about you, either through our Boutique Card or throughout our customer relationship or generally when we interact with you in connection with one of our boutiques. Therefore, we may collect the following personal data about you:
  • Basic Data:
    Civility, last name, first name, middle name, maiden name, nickname, suffix, date of birth, age category, nationality, employee (yes/no), linked account ID and relationship (e.g., VIP);
  • Contact Data:
    Address type, primary (yes/no), street, number, city, zip code, state, country, email address, primary email (yes/no), phone number, phone number type, primary phone number (yes/no), phone number country indicator, communication language;
  • Purchase Data:
    Date of transaction, customer ID, return (yes/no), transaction ID, boutique ID, channel, sales associate ID, total quantity, shipping amount, total amount local currency, total amount global currency, product ID, quantity, price, discount, sample (yes/no), taxes, net sales amount, net sales amount global currency, number of purchased products per type, segment allocation (incl. country, boutique, etc.);
  • After Sales Data
    Customer ID, current location, next location, creation date, last update, ticket ID, status, assignee ID, contact channel, reason, division, order no., number of previous requests, creation date, closed date, case ID, priority, case type, contact name, quantity, after-sales price, subject, description, proof of purchase (yes/no), date of purchase, boutique of purchase, product ID, communicated end, estimated end, comments for workshop, final action taken, segment allocation (incl. country, boutique, etc.);
  • Marketing Data:
    consent, wish to receive communications, wish to share / merge data or not, channel mail, channel postal, channel SMS, area of preference (Fashion, Watches & Jewelry, Fragrance & Beauty), boutique of preference, sales advisor of preference; event related data;
  • Identification Data:
    Type of identification document (e.g., passport, national ID Card), document number, expiration date, delivery date
  • Interests Data:
    Languages spoken, favorite CHANEL products, interests, reactions to marketing campaigns;
  • Social Data:
    Profession, public profiles on social networks, follow-up by an advisor/personal stylist;
  • Request Data:
    Type of relationship with CHANEL (e.g., customer, employee or other), last name, first name, type of request (e.g., personal information rectification or deletion request), further request details necessary to process your request (e.g. identification details), and the content of your request provided to us.
  • CCTV Data:

2. Processing purposes

If you are an existing or prospective customer of or otherwise interact with CHANEL, we may use your personal data for the following purposes (“Processing Purposes”):
  • Purchase-related Purposes:
    Manage your purchases, payments and deliveries, your appointments, orders and reservations, and in particular, if applicable, your registration on a waiting list;
  • Service-related Purposes:
    Allow you to benefit from our warranties and after-sales- and other services offered in our boutiques, for instance, to book an appointment;
  • Preference-related Purposes:
    Allow us to best identify and understand your interests and preferences and enabling us to offer you our customized offers and other services corresponding to your needs, wishes and profile;
  • Marketing-related Purposes:
    Send you information through our CHANEL communication channels about our latest collections, products, campaigns, fashion shows and other events and/or to send you invitations, customized courtesies or offers and/or to allow you to attend our events;
  • Product Improvement-related Purposes:
    Obtain your opinion about our CHANEL products and services and thereby to continuously improve them;
  • Regulatory-related Purposes:
    Comply with our statutory obligations, including, among others, accounting and regulatory obligations related to cosmetics, the fight against money-laundering, the fight against fraud involving credit cards and the fight against counterfeiting and processing your data subject rights requests;
  • Studies-related Purposes:
    Establish statistics, financial and commercial studies.

    Protect individuals as well as our property and assets, prevent, repress and prosecute crimes and offenses.

4. Transfer of your personal data

Within the CHANEL Organization. To the extent permitted by law and taking into account the protection of your rights and freedoms in respect of the processing of your data, your data will only be accessible to a limited and defined number of recipients within the global CHANEL entities (“CHANEL Organization”) as further described below. Such data access will strictly take place on a “need to know” basis in order for the recipients to fulfill the Processing Purposes in their capacity as data controllers. We may transfer your data to another legal entity for the purposes of a collaboration, joint venture, corporate reorganization, change of legal form or other similar event. In case of a merger or sale, your data will be permanently transferred to the successor company. You can find a list of the relevant CHANEL entities here.
If you are an existing or prospective client of CHANEL or otherwise interact with CHANEL, only the CHANEL employees within the CHANEL Organization that are working within the teams that need to have your information (for example, Customer Relationship Management, Commercial Management, Legal, Compliance and IT) will access your data.
Third Parties outside of the CHANEL Organization. We may in limited cases transfer your data to governmental agencies and regulators (e.g. tax authorities), courts, and government authorities, all in accordance with applicable law and to external advisors (e.g., lawyers, accountants, auditors etc.), all acting as controllers. In this context CHANEL may also have to transfer your data to third parties when it receives a request by an authority empowered by law to do so, pursuant to applicable laws and regulations.
Service providers (within and outside CHANEL): Your data will generally not be disclosed to recipients outside the CHANEL Organization. In some cases, however, CHANEL makes use of external service providers acting on behalf of CHANEL on the basis of contractual arrangements which will include strict data protection obligations. We will in particular provide your data to service providers or suppliers (this may include other CHANEL group companies) as part of our normal business operations to carry out certain IT-related tasks, conducting our business, servicing you or protecting the security and integrity of our business (including IT maintenance, security and support service provider, hosting provider, payment provider, marketing and advertising partners, mailing or emailing services or customer care center).
5. Retention of your personal data

Your data generally: Alongside the commitment to offering the highest standards of services and products, we consider that our products should entitle you to personalized client treatment and incomparable after-sales services that may last for a lifetime for some products. For this purpose, and to ensure such services, we may need to keep your data for as long as it is needed for the provision of such services. Your Purchase Data will be retained until your last use or purchase of our services or goods as required or permitted by applicable local law or where we have a legitimate and lawful purpose to do so and in any case.
For any product sold, we may keep your data for as long as it is necessary to comply with applicable legislation regarding product guarantee and safety and in order to follow up with you on the results of the product and offer you continuous advice. Your further data will be retained as long as required by applicable local law or to the extent we have a legitimate and lawful purpose to do so. Please note that the storage period provided by legislation may vary per country.
6. Your rights

You may have the following rights to the extent and as provided by the law applicable to you:
  • A right of access and information: you have the right to be informed in a concise, transparent, intelligible and easily accessible form of the way in which your personal data is processed. You also have the right to obtain (i) confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you are being processed, and, where that is the case (ii) to access such personal data and obtain a copy thereof.
  • A right to rectification: you have the right to obtain the rectification of your personal data. You also have the right to have incomplete personal data completed.
  • A right to erasure: in some cases, you have the right to obtain the erasure of your personal data. However, this is not an absolute right and CHANEL may have legal or legitimate grounds for keeping such personal data.
  • A right to restriction of processing: in some cases, you have the right to obtain restriction of the processing of your personal data.
  • A right to data portability: you have the right to receive your personal data which you have provided to CHANEL, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and you have the right to transmit those data to another controller without hindrance from CHANEL. This right only applies when the processing of your Personal Data is based on your consent or on a contract and such processing is carried out by automated means.
  • A right to object to processing: you have the right to object to processing of your personal data when such processing is based on the legitimate interest of CHANEL. CHANEL may, however, invoke compelling legitimate grounds for continued processing. You also have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data for marketing purposes.

CHANEL Boutique Privacy Policy

 
CHANEL (“CHANEL”, “we” or “us”) attaches great importance to protecting your privacy and personal data and we undertake to comply with regulations applicable to us (including, in particular and as applicable, the European General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679, “GDPR”, the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”, and other regimes).

    Civility, last name, first name, middle name, maiden name, nickname, suffix, date of birth, age category, nationality, employee (yes/no), linked account ID and relationship (e.g., VIP);
  • Contact Data:
    Address type, primary (yes/no), street, number, city, zip code, state, country, email address, primary email (yes/no), phone number, phone number type, primary phone number (yes/no), phone number country indicator, communication language;
  • Purchase Data:
    Date of transaction, customer ID, return (yes/no), transaction ID, boutique ID, channel, sales associate ID, total quantity, shipping amount, total amount local currency, total amount global currency, product ID, quantity, price, discount, sample (yes/no), taxes, net sales amount, net sales amount global currency, number of purchased products per type, segment allocation (incl. country, boutique, etc.);
  • After Sales Data
    Customer ID, current location, next location, creation date, last update, ticket ID, status, assignee ID, contact channel, reason, division, order no., number of previous requests, creation date, closed date, case ID, priority, case type, contact name, quantity, after-sales price, subject, description, proof of purchase (yes/no), date of purchase, boutique of purchase, product ID, communicated end, estimated end, comments for workshop, final action taken, segment allocation (incl. country, boutique, etc.);
  • Marketing Data:
    consent, wish to receive communications, wish to share / merge data or not, channel mail, channel postal, channel SMS, area of preference (Fashion, Watches & Jewelry, Fragrance & Beauty), boutique of preference, sales advisor of preference; event related data;
  • Identification Data:
    Type of identification document (e.g., passport, national ID Card), document number, expiration date, delivery date
  • Interests Data:
    Languages spoken, favorite CHANEL products, interests, reactions to marketing campaigns;
  • Social Data:
    Profession, public profiles on social networks, follow-up by an advisor/personal stylist;
  • Request Data:
    Type of relationship with CHANEL (e.g., customer, employee or other), last name, first name, type of request (e.g., personal information rectification or deletion request), further request details necessary to process your request (e.g. identification details), and the content of your request provided to us.

2. Processing purposes

If you are an existing or prospective customer of or otherwise interact with CHANEL, we may use your personal data for the following purposes (“Processing Purposes”):
  • Purchase-related Purposes:
    Manage your purchases, payments and deliveries, your appointments, orders and reservations, and in particular, if applicable, your registration on a waiting list;
  • Service-related Purposes:
    Allow you to benefit from our warranties and after-sales- and other services offered in our boutiques, for instance, to book an appointment;

    Allow us to best identify and understand your interests and preferences and enabling us to offer you our customized offers and other services corresponding to your needs, wishes and profile;

4. Transfer of your personal data

Within the CHANEL Organization. To the extent permitted by law and taking into account the protection of your rights and freedoms in respect of the processing of your data, your data will only be accessible to a limited and defined number of recipients within the global CHANEL entities (“CHANEL Organization”) as further described below. Such data access will strictly take place on a “need to know” basis in order for the recipients to fulfill the Processing Purposes in their capacity as data controllers. We may transfer your data to another legal entity for the purposes of a collaboration, joint venture, corporate reorganization, change of legal form or other similar event. In case of a merger or sale, your data will be permanently transferred to the successor company. You can find a list of the relevant CHANEL entities here.
If you are an existing or prospective client of CHANEL or otherwise interact with CHANEL, only the CHANEL employees within the CHANEL Organization that are working within the teams that need to have your information (for example, Customer Relationship Management, Commercial Management, Legal, Compliance and IT) will access your data.
Third Parties outside of the CHANEL Organization. We may in limited cases transfer your data to governmental agencies and regulators (e.g. tax authorities), courts, and government authorities, all in accordance with applicable law and to external advisors (e.g., lawyers, accountants, auditors etc.), all acting as controllers. In this context CHANEL may also have to transfer your data to third parties when it receives a request by an authority empowered by law to do so, pursuant to applicable laws and regulations.
Service providers (within and outside CHANEL): Your data will generally not be disclosed to recipients outside the CHANEL Organization. In some cases, however, CHANEL makes use of external service providers acting on behalf of CHANEL on the basis of contractual arrangements which will include strict data protection obligations. We will in particular provide your data to service providers or suppliers (this may include other CHANEL group companies) as part of our normal business operations to carry out certain IT-related tasks, conducting our business, servicing you or protecting the security and integrity of our business (including IT maintenance, security and support service provider, hosting provider, payment provider, marketing and advertising partners, mailing or emailing services or customer care center).
5. Retention of your personal data

Your data generally: Alongside the commitment to offering the highest standards of services and products, we consider that our products should entitle you to personalized client treatment and incomparable after-sales services that may last for a lifetime for some products. For this purpose, and to ensure such services, we may need to keep your data for as long as it is needed for the provision of such services. Your Purchase Data will be retained until your last use or purchase of our services or goods as required or permitted by applicable local law or where we have a legitimate and lawful purpose to do so and in any case.
For any product sold, we may keep your data for as long as it is necessary to comply with applicable legislation regarding product guarantee and safety and in order to follow up with you on the results of the product and offer you continuous advice. Your further data will be retained as long as required by applicable local law or to the extent we have a legitimate and lawful purpose to do so. Please note that the storage period provided by legislation may vary per country.
6. Your rights

You may have the following rights to the extent and as provided by the law applicable to you:
  • A right of access and information: you have the right to be informed in a concise, transparent, intelligible and easily accessible form of the way in which your personal data is processed. You also have the right to obtain (i) confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you are being processed, and, where that is the case (ii) to access such personal data and obtain a copy thereof.
  • A right to rectification: you have the right to obtain the rectification of your personal data. You also have the right to have incomplete personal data completed.
  • A right to erasure: in some cases, you have the right to obtain the erasure of your personal data. However, this is not an absolute right and CHANEL may have legal or legitimate grounds for keeping such personal data.
  • A right to restriction of processing: in some cases, you have the right to obtain restriction of the processing of your personal data.
  • A right to data portability: you have the right to receive your personal data which you have provided to CHANEL, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and you have the right to transmit those data to another controller without hindrance from CHANEL. This right only applies when the processing of your Personal Data is based on your consent or on a contract and such processing is carried out by automated means.
  • A right to object to processing: you have the right to object to processing of your personal data when such processing is based on the legitimate interest of CHANEL. CHANEL may, however, invoke compelling legitimate grounds for continued processing. You also have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data for marketing purposes.

  • Contact Data:
    Address type, primary (yes/no), street, number, city, zip code, state, country, email address, primary email (yes/no), phone number, phone number type, primary phone number (yes/no), phone number country indicator, communication language;
  • Purchase Data:
    Date of transaction, customer ID, return (yes/no), transaction ID, boutique ID, channel, sales associate ID, total quantity, shipping amount, total amount local currency, total amount global currency, product ID, quantity, price, discount, sample (yes/no), taxes, net sales amount, net sales amount global currency, number of purchased products per type, segment allocation (incl. country, boutique, etc.);
  • After Sales Data
    Customer ID, current location, next location, creation date, last update, ticket ID, status, assignee ID, contact channel, reason, division, order no., number of previous requests, creation date, closed date, case ID, priority, case type, contact name, quantity, after-sales price, subject, description, proof of purchase (yes/no), date of purchase, boutique of purchase, product ID, communicated end, estimated end, comments for workshop, final action taken, segment allocation (incl. country, boutique, etc.);
  • Marketing Data:
    consent, wish to receive communications, wish to share / merge data or not, channel mail, channel postal, channel SMS, area of preference (Fashion, Watches & Jewelry, Fragrance & Beauty), boutique of preference, sales advisor of preference; event related data;
  • Identification Data:
    Type of identification document (e.g., passport, national ID Card), document number, expiration date, delivery date
  • Interests Data:
    Languages spoken, favorite CHANEL products, interests, reactions to marketing campaigns;
  • Social Data:
    Profession, public profiles on social networks, follow-up by an advisor/personal stylist;
  • Request Data:
    Type of relationship with CHANEL (e.g., customer, employee or other), last name, first name, type of request (e.g., personal information rectification or deletion request), further request details necessary to process your request (e.g. identification details), and the content of your request provided to us.

If you are an existing or prospective customer of or otherwise interact with CHANEL, we may use your personal data for the following purposes (“Processing Purposes”):

4. Transfer of your personal data

Within the CHANEL Organization. To the extent permitted by law and taking into account the protection of your rights and freedoms in respect of the processing of your data, your data will only be accessible to a limited and defined number of recipients within the global CHANEL entities (“CHANEL Organization”) as further described below. Such data access will strictly take place on a “need to know” basis in order for the recipients to fulfill the Processing Purposes in their capacity as data controllers. We may transfer your data to another legal entity for the purposes of a collaboration, joint venture, corporate reorganization, change of legal form or other similar event. If you are an existing or prospective client of CHANEL or otherwise interact with CHANEL, only the CHANEL employees within the CHANEL Organization that are working within the teams that need to have your information (for example, Customer Relationship Management, Commercial Management, Legal, Compliance and IT) will access your data.
